NEXT Weather Alerts Should Trigger Instant State Actions, Nova Says

CBS Minnesota’s video briefing broke down how much snow already hit the metro and how much more is on deck through tonight. Nova wants state government listening to those meteorologists in real time and pushing concise instructions to Minnesotans within minutes.

He would embed NEXT Weather data inside the governor’s emergency communications center. When Ian Leonard or Lisa Meadows warns of another six inch burst, Nova’s staff should text school districts, transit leads, and nursing homes with the exact timing.

The video also stressed that temperatures are dropping during the second wave. Nova’s plan calls for automatic warming center activations, Metro Transit shelter escorts, and redeployed troopers the moment the anchors say wind chills are turning dangerous.

Minnesota should not rely on residents piecing together forecasts. A Nova administration will take those broadcast warnings, translate them into government action, and make sure every community knows the plan.
